This page is about how I view life and how I want to live my life. My interest in personal
growth has led me to be passionate about the principles, values and goals I have set for
my life.
The links on the left expand my philosophy a little further.
Personal Responsibility
I am personally responsible for my own happiness. I
respond to life situations with creativity and fascination.
I am a continuous learner. I aim to learn from others and to increase my self-awareness.
Self-awareness
Self-awareness is about increasing my knowledge of myself
and becoming more aware of my uniqueness.
Self-acceptance
Self-acceptance is about accepting my uniqueness. I accept
that there is no other person in the world who is exactly like me - there never was and
there never will be. That is what makes me special.
Self-awareness and self-acceptance
feed each other:
When I accept my uniqueness I find it easy to appreciate the uniqueness and beauty of
my environment. The response from my environment is to reaffirm and accept me.
This encourages me to become more self-accepting and to
increase my self-awareness by continuing to discover what
makes me unique.
My self esteem is how I value myself. The more I learn
about myself, the more I become fascinated with the qualities which make me unique. I
easily accept affirming statements about myself and I value myself more.
Importance of Self Esteem
Having self esteem means having the freedom to be real and
enjoying my uniqueness. I have a unique contribution to make to the world. I value all my
gifts and talents. I accept myself as I am right now. I feel good about myself.
Assertive Communication
I practise assertive communication because I wish to
exercise my personal rights to:
express what I feel
express what I think
express what I want or do not want
choose my own path in my life
and to respect the personal rights of others to do the same.
